Homesick for peace
Homesick for Peace is a collection of expressive figurative and symbolic paintings exploring spirituality, emotional survival, longing, and the search for meaning in modern life. Influenced by my work in behavioral health as a recreation therapist, these paintings emerge from experiences surrounding addiction, hope, identity, suffering, and human resilience. Moving away from literal representation, the work uses abstraction, mythology, gesture, and layered imagery to create emotional spaces that feel both personal and universal. Figures drift between dream, memory, ritual, and contemporary existence, inviting viewers to reflect on tension, vulnerability, beauty, and the deep human desire for peace and connection. Homesick for Peace will be exhibited at Hi-Fi Wine as part of the Merced Art Festival. May 18th - June 2026. The Big Night is May 23rd from 5-9pm
